Being interested in following Jesus in amazing! We would love to talk with you in person but here is something to think through about what we would talk to you about it all. There is a thing that illustrates the need and the mission of God in the purpose and ministry of Jesus Christ called the Romans road.
When God created the world he created it to be perfect. When God made everything he called it "Very Good" (Gen. 1:31). God was in communion with all of his creation and would walk with man through the garden. He had one rule in the garden of Eden. It was to no teat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (Gen. 2:17). God's enemy satan deceived Eve and her husband Adam to believe him over God. God said that if they ate of it they would surely die, but the enemy said that if they did they would be like God. So they ate of it and sin entered the world.
Sin is separation from God (Isa. 59:2). Because sin entered God's perfect creation, they had to be separated from him. Because God is so pure and so holy and so righteous he can have nothing to do with it. So God told mankind and his enemy the consequences of being separated from him and the curse that will come upon them. In all this God gave hope for redemption. Genesis 3:15 says, "I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel." This was God telling creation that someone is going to come that will put an end to the curse of sin.
This was Jesus.
All of humanity comes from Adam and Eve. We are all born into sin. Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God". We all sin and we all are born separated from God. Romans 3:10 says that no one is righteous not even one. Because we have sinned there are consequences for us that were the same for Adam and Eve. Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." The punishment that we suffer other than being separated from him in this life but we face death physically, which was not God's original design, but we will also face eternal death. Which is eternal death in Hell. Separated from God for eternity. The second half of that verse says that there is a gift of God that gives life in eternity, and that gift is the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.
Jesus was a act of God to show how much he loves his creation. Romans 5:10 says, "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Jesus died for us! He satisfied the wrath of God on sin by paying that penalty of sin on our behalf. John 3:16-17 says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.". Jesus came to bring salvation to the world for those that believe in him. This salvation is a free gift that we accept this gift through faith in him and we are saved by his grace (Eph. 2:8-9). To accept this gift Romans 10:9 says, "That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." This is available to all through belief in him. Romans 10:13 says, "for everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." But unfortunately not all will. Jesus said that the gate to this eternal like is narrow and few will find it, but wide is the road that leads to death (Matt. 7:13).
Salvation is not just about eternal life. We have blessings, promises and experiences in this life too. Romans 5:1 says, "Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." Through our faith in Jesus Christ we can have a relationship with our heavenly father. Because of Christ we are now justified in our relationship with God and can commune with him like Adam and Eve did in the garden. Because of Christ there is no condemnation for those that are in him (Rom. 8:1).
To accept this gift we believe it is three steps. Pray to your Father and ADMIT, CONFESS and BELIEVE.
ADMIT - Admit that you are a sinner that has fallen short of God's grace and standard of perfection
CONFESS -Confess that Jesus Christ is the Lord of your life and that he is Lord of your life. That he dies for your sins and are free of the condemnation of your sins.
BELIEVE - Believe in him and life a life according to his purposes
Next steps - as an act of obedience we believe that the next step is baptism. Baptism is an outward sign of the belief that you have accepted within. If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior we would love to celebrate this amazing thing with you! Fill out the card below so that we can reach out to you and celebrate as they celebrate in heaven (Lk 15:7)! If you would like to be Baptized please let us know and we would love to meet with you and make it happen!
